Approximately $15,000 in prizes are awarded in this major art competition.

For nearly three decades, the International Exhibition has been one of the highlights of the year for SDWS. This event attracts entries from hundreds of artists from all over the world. A gala awards reception is held at our gallery, and thousands of visitors view the exhibit during the month of October.

Renowned painter Dean Mitchell, in his juror’s statement for the 22nd Annual International Exhibition, wrote: “The San Diego Watercolor Society will always have a special place in my heart as an American artist. It was the first national exhibition that awarded me a prize in the late 70’s. I doubt very seriously that I would have ever emerged as the artist I am today without exhibitions of this nature. Thank you San Diego Watercolor Society for your continued excellencein presenting one of the finest exhibitions in contemporary art.”
