Wanda is an intuitive, experimental, and passionate painter AND her paintings are created using solid, tried and true, design principles.  This class will be focusing on creating vibrant, one of a kind, non-representational abstracts.  The techniques you learn can also spice up your more realistic paintings. 

This workshop will contain:

BRIEF INSTRUCTION IN:

  • Creating a strong composition
  • Other basic design principles

DEMOS and INSTRUCTION:

  • STRONG VALUE CONTRAST

Yes! You can create deep rich, yummy darks, vibrant lights/whites and pleasing mid values on Yupo.  Wanda will show you easy ways to do this…….yes, easy!

  • SHAPES

Instruction and demos in creating a variety of intriguing, and striking shapes using stencils, foam rollers, foam daubers, brushes, and a shoe!

The techniques you learn will allow you to finish one or more delightful abstract paintings that look quite complicated but are actually pretty easy to create.

PLENTY OF TIME TO PAINT 

After the basics are presented, you will have plenty of time to PAINT /PLAY/EXPERIMENT to allow your own unique expression to emerge.

Wanda will be offering individual assistance as needed.

Artist Bio

Wanda Honeycutt

 

Wanda's mixed media, watercolor, and acrylic paintings have been shown, sold, and have received numerous awards in galleries throughout San Diego. They are also included in private collections in Argentina, Canada, and throughout the United States.

Wanda has studied with numerous well known artists, learning a vast array of techniques and the elements and principles of art and design which go into a successful and pleasing painting.
