Water reflections are endlessly captivating. They can mirror a scene with glass-like clarity or transform it into a mesmerizing pattern of color and shape as ripples move across the surface.
In this workshop, Lorraine will demonstrate her approach to capturing both the beauty of reflective water and the realism of the subject being reflected.
Students will begin by exploring techniques for painting the intricate, puzzle-like patterns created by moving water. Through masking, layering, and wet-on-wet watercolor methods, you'll learn how to build luminous, believable reflections.
The workshop will then focus on painting the reflected subject—a bird—with careful attention to color, texture, and detail. Lorraine will share techniques for creating a realistic, expressive likeness of the bird.
