Liz Walker
What makes us stop in our tracks and examine a painting? Color, value, composition, and even subject matter are important but, more than that, a successful painting tells a story that makes us want to linger awhile longer—and keep looking. In this workshop we'll explore how to construct a strong, connected composition, how to juxtapose shapes with line work to make your art memorable and personal, and how to gain more creative freedom and discover your own artistic voice. In addition, Liz will share her process of transforming old "failed" paintings into impactful, award-winning works of art.
Through an array of inspiring slideshows, demos and exercises, Liz aims to expand your imagination, productivity, and authenticity as you paint with abandon and try out innovative techniques.
Participants should have basic acrylic painting skills and a desire to jump in with both feet and learn new acrylic and collage techniques. Subject matter is the choice of each artist, so participants are free to paint figure, landscape, still life, abstract or non-objective work. Whether you are an intermediate level or experienced artist, you will benefit from this hands-on workshop, gaining a new perspective on how to build and design a better painting.
