This 2-day workshop is for artists of all levels and working with watercolor or other water medium.
This workshop will be focusing on COMPOSITION and DESIGN. During the workshop, you will learn important design principles of composition, then learn how to turn your own small sketches into well-designed successful paintings.
What you’ll learn at this workshop:
Each day Shuang Li will begin her demo with her step-by-step design process for a complete new painting. After her demo, you will be able to practice this process immediately, by using your own small sketches and other reference materials, then design and finish your masterpiece at the workshop. Shuang will give her personal assistance to each participant throughout the workshop.
Shuang will be using watercolors, which is her primary media. Workshop participants are welcome to use other preferred water medium.

Shuang Li, Watercolor Artist
Born, raised and classically trained in China, Shuang Li received her BA Degree in Graphic Design and Master Degree in Art History. After moving to the United States, Shuang then received her MFA (Master of Fine Art) Degree from The Department of Art, University of Oregon in 1991.
Following the traditional “En Plein Air” Impressionism approach, Shuang paints watercolor both on locations and in her studio, portrays the extraordinary variety of life with her unique perspective. With masterful classic and contemporary techniques, Shuang recreates nature’s beauty in her paintings by capturing moods and moments of light and color with her singular poetic expression.
A signature member of National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West and San Diego Watercolor Society, Shuang's watercolor paintings have long been favored by collectors, also regularly exhibited in national and international galleries and group shows, with many honorable awards.
With her extensive teaching background, Shuang has been regularly invited by art organizations for her popular plein air painting demonstrations, art workshops and classes, and frequently served as an invited juror for art competitions and art exhibitions.
