Paintings Full of Texture

This workshop will focus on creating various types of texture on paper, canvas or board using acrylic and acrylic inks. You may use watercolor if you wish.  Design and Composition will be explored as  part of the process.  From these texture starts, abstract or more realistic paintings will be developed.  You will also learn how to incorporate the new techniques into your own painting style.

Recommended experience level:  All levels.

Kathleen Scoggin

Kathleen Scoggin is a contemporary abstract artist working in mixed watermedia. Her work is inspired by nature and often paintings show the conflict of man and nature.  Her work expresses organic subjects inviting the viewer to see and be aware of the beauty around them. The work is based on unique texture techniques to describe the varied earth forms that are all around us.

 She has taken numerous workshops with nationally recognized artists and studied art at several universities.

 She has participated in juried and non-juried shows throughout the Western United States. She has won numerous awards including multiple Best in Shows.

She is an active member of Coachella Valley Watercolor Society, San Diego Watercolor Society, Desert Art Center, Artist Council of the Palm Springs Art Museum and Artist Alliance of Oceanside Art Museum.
