Best of Theme

This painting seemed to exemplify what people do on lazy days….relax in a cafe with a cup of coffee.  Nice composition, expressive line, harmonious color.

The Wait by Angela Westengard

Third Place

This painting reminds me of the eastern seaboard scenes done by Fairfield Porter both in subject matter and in style.  The colors and composition work beautifully in a piece that was probably painted plein air. I like it very much.

Quiet Cove by Thomas Franco

Second Place

Simple and exceptional.  The mood is imparted with a foggy monochromatic palette.  The subject matter has universal appeal. The painting could easily have been overworked, but has not been.  It is fresh and elegant…a really nice piece.

Fishing Day by Jan Min

First Place

This portrait is fresh, intimate and beautifully executed.  It seems to me the artist has a fond connection to the subject, because it is rendered with some affection as well as skill. Wonderful work!
