Orange County Artist Haesung Choi Wins Second Place

Haesung Choi, an artist and resident of Orange, California, won the second-place award in the continuingly competitive June 2021 Member’s exhibition “Violent Hues” held virtually in June 2021, on The San Diego Watercolor Society website, www.sdws.org.  Choi’s painting entitled “Happy Birthday” was selected by prominent artist and juror Bob Burridge for this honor, out of more than 300 entries. Burridge said of  the painting, “Happy Birthday – I laughed as soon as I saw this painting. It is an uplifting and delightful image! Shows so much love for the subject matter. I like the high-key values – it works so well.”

Haesung says that she has many ideas and dreams about what she wants to paint but somehow flowers end up dominating her paintings. She realizes that’s how she tells her stories.  Her hope is that her art can remind you of the beauty that is all around us. Choi’s work can be seen at https://www.haesungchoi.com/

The Virtual Exhibit will run through Saturday June 26, 2021 on The San Diego Watercolor Society’s website at https://www.sdws.org/galleryart.php?cat=6968 where the paintings can be both viewed and purchased from the Online Store.
