Peggy Weiner Wins First Place in August Members Show

Peggy Weiner, an artist and resident of Escondido, California, won the first-place award in the continuingly competitive August 2021 Member’s exhibition “Lazy Days” held virtually by the San Diego Watercolor Society available to view on the website, www.sdws.org.  Weiner’s painting entitled “Anna” was selected by prominent artist and juror Robin Erickson for this honor. Erickson said of  the painting, “This portrait is fresh, intimate and beautifully executed.  It seems to me the artist has a fond connection to the subject, because it is rendered with some affection as well as skill. Wonderful work!”

Peggy Weiner grew up in the suburbs of New York, received her  B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and then attended the UCLA School of Interior Design where she began her formal art training. IN 1978 she moved to San Diego where she continued her fine art education at Mesa Collage, the Atheneum School of Art, and the San Diego Watercolor Society. She has continued studying fine art ever since from professionals throughout the country. Peggy works in all water-based media, often mixing watercolor, acrylic ink, gouache, and watercolor pencil. She has also worked for an award-winning greeting card company to design and paint a watercolor botanical illustration line and has sold and donated numerous works to regional hospitals, including Thornton Hospital in La Jolla. Peggy’s work has been exhibited and won awards in numerous juried shows across the country, and may be seen at the SDWS and other San Diego commercial settings.
