The San Diego Watercolor Society Workshops are held in our beautiful, light-filled education center in the SDWS Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, 2825 Dewey Road, Bldg #202, San Diego, CA 92106.

outdoors on location.

Limited enrollment will provide plenty of time for hands-on practice.

In the early 80’s, after Fred Whitaker had died, Ken was a close artist friend to Eileen and they critiqued each others art work. He will offer insights into some of their artistic conversations and the comments they gave to one another.
 
 Ken will begin his worksop with a one hour Keynote presentation titled Dance To Your Own Tune; Adhere To Your Own Style  Ken will share his favorite Whitaker paintings plus analysis and commentary on Fred and Eileen’s design strategies and artistic cross-influences.

The emphasis of this workshop will be color and experimental watermedia in acrylic and gouache with some graulating watercolor. We will begin using acrylic as a water medium and as the week progresses introduce gouache as a translucent and opaque overlay and the last day combine these media with granulating watercolor.  During the five day workshop artists will be in the studio and we will focus on color, color mixing and color relationships in acrylic and gouache.
