The San Diego Watercolor Society Workshops are held in our beautiful, light-filled education center in the SDWS Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, 2825 Dewey Road, Bldg #202, San Diego, CA 92106.

Poured Painted Surfaces

Putting paint on paper can be a mixed bag of unexpected surprises. Pouring paint onto paper creates combos of astonishing, intense and luminescent colors. Discover ways to define the space around shapes with contrast and glazed colors. Reveal some of the underlying imagery of shapes with watercolors, acrylics, and gouache.

This workshop focuses on creating various types of texture on paper, canvas or board using acrylic paint and acrylic inks. You may use watercolor if you wish. SDWS folks know Jim Millard as “the Professor” for his award-winning watercolors and expertise in teaching. Bring in two or three of your paintings that you feel are not quite successful.  For a small group of 12 attendees, Jim will evaluate, demo and suggest solutions to improve your work.  A serious critique is a key to improving your future paintings.
